Library Rules and Regulations

  1. A library card is necessary for entering the library premises and for various activities such as borrowing, returning, or renewing materials.
  2. Users need to leave their bags and personal belongings, except for certain essential items (except cell phones, purse, money, debit/ credit card, laptop and other valuables), at the entrance.
  3. Students are permitted to bring a maximum of two personal books into the reading room specifically for studying.
  4. Advising users to leave borrowed documents on the table rather than attempting to reshelve them to avoid misplacement.
  5. Borrowers are responsible for checking the condition of a book before borrowing it to avoid being held accountable for any damage later.
  6. Students will be charged a late fee of Rs.1/- per day per book for books borrowed from the Library lending section if they are returned after the due date.
  7. Conversations, gossiping, sleeping, eating, etc are not allowed in the library. Use of Mobile Phone is not allowed within the library premises, if necessary then to be kept in silent mode/switched off mode.
  8. Reference documents such as dictionaries, encyclopedias, yearbooks, periodicals, magazines, newspapers and handbooks will not be lent out or issued to users.
  9. Borrowed books should be safeguarded from elements like rain, dust, insects, etc., to ensure their preservation and condition.
  10. Readers are required to avoid altering, marking, cutting, mutilating, or causing damage to any library materials. Those found engaging in such activities will be held accountable for covering the full replacement cost of the damaged items and may risk suspension of their library privileges, including access to the library.
  11. If books are lost, damaged, or not returned, the responsible member must replace the book. Otherwise, they will be required to pay the current cost of the book. Photocopies or older editions of the book will not be accepted as replacements.
  12. Before registering for the new semester, all outstanding library dues, including overdue books, must be settled; otherwise, borrowing privileges will be suspended.
  13. The library is not liable for any loss or damage to users' personal belongings.
  14. Theft, mutilation, or damage to library materials is a severe offense, and those responsible will face appropriate action. If a student is found guilty, their library membership may be suspended or terminated.
  15. It instructs borrowers to report the loss of their borrower's card immediately in writing.
  16. In case of loss of a library card, a duplicate one may be issued, at the discretion of the Librarian, for which a fee of Rs 30 per card will have to be paid.
  17. Borrowers are responsible for safely keeping and returning the documents they borrow from the library.
