A comprehensive law, the Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013 ("POSH Act"), was enacted to give every woman access to a safe, secure, and enabling environment that is free from sexual harassment. Employers are legally obligated to adhere to specific legislative standards under the POSH Act. Among them is the creation of an Internal Complaints Committee ("ICC"), a body designed to hear complaints from women who have been sexually harassed at work, investigate the matter, and advise the employer on what steps should be taken after reviewing the complaint. The ICC at Government General Degree College at Pedong was formally established on July 26, 2019, and is committed to combating workplace sexual harassment of women. All college faculty members have made a commitment to work towards this goal.
