Understanding Intellectual Property Right

On August 22, 2019, the Department of Political Science, Government General Degree College, Pedong, organized a special lecture on Intellectual Property Rights, delivered by Puja Gurung, Assistant Professor. The lecture provided students with a comprehensive understanding of intellectual property rights, including patents, copyrights, trademarks, and trade secrets. Assistant Professor Gurung's expert insights shed light on the importance of protecting intellectual property, the legal framework governing it, and the implications of infringement. The session was interactive, with students engaging in a productive Q&A session and gaining valuable knowledge about the role of intellectual property rights in promoting innovation and creativity. The lecture was well-received by the students and appreciated for its relevance and clarity.

Research Methodology: Sample and Sample Design

The Department of Political Science, Government General Degree College at Pedong organized a special lecture on the 25th of November 2019 about Research Methodology for the students of the Department. The lecture was delivered by Asst. Professor Bijay Thapa from Lilabati Mahavidyalaya, Alipurduar.  The topic of the lecture was “Research Methodology: Sample And Sampling.”

The lecture was very helpful for the students as it covered a wide range of the methods of sampling designing. The lecture covered areas regarding the definition and measuring public opinion with surveys. This lecture focused on issues like the need for sample and sample designing. The students were taught how to conduct surveys and thereby compare and conclude on their findings.

The students were satisfied with the lecture and were very keen on participating in survey research. Especially those belonging to the Department of Political Science and Sociology.

Discussion on Quantitative Data Analysis

On December 1, 2022, Manab Biswas delivered a lecture titled "Discussion on Quantitative Data Analysis" for the students of Political Science at Government General Degree College, Pedong. The lecture focused on the fundamental concepts and techniques of quantitative data analysis, providing students with a comprehensive understanding of how to collect, analyze, and interpret numerical data. Biswas's expert insights and practical examples enabled students to grasp the significance of quantitative data analysis in political science research. The interactive session encouraged students to engage in discussions, ask questions, and clarify their doubts, making the lecture an enriching experience for all attendees.

Research Methodology: Questionnaire Design

The department of Political Science organised a special lecture on Research Methodology was organized by the Department of Political Science, Government General Degree College, Pedong, on November 10, 2022 for 3rd-semester students.  Dr. Dipti Tamang from Darjeeling Government College was our guest lecturer for the above said programme. All are invited for the same. The workshop aimed to enhance students' understanding of research methodology, focusing on question of ethics and research writing. Dr. Tamang delivered an informative lecture, elucidating the concepts of survey methods and research design. The session was interactive, with students actively participating in discussions and clarifying their doubts. The lecture provided students with a comprehensive understanding of sampling methods, enabling them to design and conduct effective research studies.

Understanding Intellectual Property Rights

The Department of Political Science, Government General Degree College, at   Pedong organised a special lecture on the 17th of April 2023 on the topic” Intellectual Property Right” which was delivered by Asst. Professor John Kapil Chhetri, Darjeeling Government College.  This lecture was   delivered to the students of the 4th   semester in room 201. The lecture covered aspects regarding the meaning and definition of an Intellectual Property and the legal expression that it held. It also covered the historical laws and procedures in relation to IPR. It also focussed on the types of intellectual properties and their description. The students benefitted a lot from this lecture especially on the historical aspect of laws and procedures in relation to IPR.
